An old Chinese proverb goes, “Only he that has traveled the road knows where the holes are deep.” As I look back on the past few years, I realize what this means and how true it’s become for me. I’ve made some bad judgment calls and my outlook isn’t always wine and roses (sometimes it’s closer to fire and brimstone), but I try to see the world for what it is, and not my interpretation of it.
This isn’t one of those online diaries. I’m not always gonna say what I’m thinking or feeling. And sometimes, I’ll say exactly what I’m thinking or feeling. Vulgarity included. But that’s the point of one of these things, isn’t it? I’ll get angry. I’ll get frustrated. And sometimes, I’ll get excited and even funny.
Jack Kerouac once wrote, “The road is life.” And as I think about the road I’ve traveled, I realize that it’s been full of switchbacks, potholes, debris, detours, and construction, but we all have a road to find.
This is mine. Buckle up.
